A Pennsylvania man spent the night in jail after he allegedly crashed his pickup truck into several parked cars at the Nittany Mall on Sunday morning. Following the incident, the man was arrested and charged with several criminal offenses including DUI and reckless driving.
According to reports from the State College police, the man was under the influence of alcohol when he drove his Ford F-250 pickup truck into the parking lot of the Nittany Mall at about 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. He appeared to lose control of his truck and crashed into eight other vehicles that were parked near one of the main entrances to the mall. No one was in any of the cars that were struck, and no one near the scene of the accident was injured, despite the fact that there were many holiday shoppers in and around the mall at the time of the crash.
When responding police officers arrived on the scene a few moments later, they administered a chemical test after suspecting that the man was intoxicated. The test allegedly revealed that the man had a blood alcohol content of 0.325 percent, which is about four times the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
The man was arrested and charged with DUI, reckless driving, and drivers required to be licensed. He is currently in jail awaiting a preliminary hearing. If he is convicted of DUI, he could face numerous penalties such as jail time, significant monetary fines, a suspension of his driver's license and an increase in his car insurance premiums. If you have been charged with DUI, it is in your best interest to contact an experienced DUI defense attorney to help you avoid these life-changing consequences.
